Ty Segall Teams Up with Bill Callahan and Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy for Johnnie Frierson Cover

Ty Segall has joined fellow Drag City artists Bill Callahan and Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy for a new collaborative cover. Check out their rendition of Johnnie Frierson’s ‘Miracles‘ below, alongside an accompanying video directed by Sai Selvarajan.

‘Miracles’ originally appeared on Frierson’s self-released album Have You Been Good To Yourself, which was reissued posthumously by Light In The Attic in 2016. “This song is the best representation of the joy it has been to make these songs with Bill and other friends/idols,” Will Oldham wrote on Instagram. “In ‘Miracles’ we’re treated to a unique moment in the trajectory of Callahan’s vocalizations, a bonafide falsetto yowl of pleased determination. This listener gets a full vaccination against the sickness-unto-death every time we hear it. Thank you, Ty.”

Callahan and Will Oldham have released a series of covers over the past few months, tackling songs by artists including Steely Dan, Yusuf / Cat Stevens, Dave Rich, Billie Eilish, and Robert Wyatt. More recently, they recruited Cretan lute player George Xylouris for a cover of Lou Reed’s ‘Rooftop Garden’.
