DaBaby was arrested in Los Angeles on Thursday afternoon for possession of a loaded and concealed firearm, multiple outlets report. The 29-year-old was carrying a 9mm inside his car, a spokesperson for the Beverly Hills Police Department told CBS Los Angeles. DaBaby was shopping on Rodeo Drive when security officers called law enforcement at around 4:37 p.m. claiming that one person in a group of men was carrying a weapon in his waistband. Police made contact with DaBaby, and, after searching the vehicle, found a concealed and loaded handgun.
In a video obtained by TMZ, DaBaby can be seen being apprehended by police after leaving the scene in a black SUV. It appears that though all four men were detained, the rapper, whose real name is Jonathan Lyndale Kirk, was the only one arrested. According to Pitchfork, the rapper shared an Instagram story video after midnight EST on Friday alongside the caption “still on time for the meeting”, suggesting that he is no longer in custody.
