Wolf Alice’s Ellie Rowsell Accuses Marilyn Manson of Misconduct at Music Festival

Wolf Alice’s Ellie Rowsell has shared her story of meeting Marilyn Manson while expressing solidarity with the musician’s ex-girlfriend, Evan Rachel Wood, who identified him as her abuser earlier this week. “I met Marilyn backstage at a festival a few years ago. After his compliments towards my band became more and more hyperbolic I became suspicious of his behaviour,” Rowsell wrote on Twitter. “I was shocked to look down and see he was filming up my skirt with a GoPro.”

“There were no repercussions for his behaviour, his tour manager simply said ‘he does this kind of thing all the time’,” she continued. “If he does this kind of thing all the time why on earth has he been headlining festivals for so many years? When will we stop enabling misogynists on the account of their success? Women must feel safe in the male dominated world that is the music industry.”

She added: “I wasn’t sure whether to bring any of this up but Manson claims in his recent statement that his relationships were ‘entirely consensual’ – I don’t think he knows the meaning of consent if he goes around up-skirting young women at festivals.”

Following Evan Rachel Wood’s allegations of abuse against Manson, multiple other women came forward with similar stories about the shock rocker, who was subsequently dropped by his record label, touring agency, and longtime manager.

Jenna Jameson, who dated Manson in the late ’90s, told the Daily Mail that the singer had “fantasized about burning [her] alive.” In an Instagram post, actor Corey Feldman accused Manson of “decades long mental and emotional abuse.” Phoebe Bridgers also recalled a “horrible” experience she had when she visited his house as a teenager, saying he “referred to a room in his house as the “r*pe room”,” and adding that, “The label knew, management knew, the band knew. Distancing themselves now, pretending to be shocked and horrified is fucking pathetic.”

After naming Manson as her abuser, Wood has also shared more details about the abuse she allegedly endured from her ex-fiancée. In a series of Instagram stories, she accused him of being viciously anti-Semitic and having repeatedly used the N-word during the course of their relationship.

She went on to add that she and Manson “never had a ‘BDSM’ relationship. We didn’t even have ‘kinky’ sex. We weren’t having sexual intercourse when I was being tortured, before or after,: she said. “I thought I was going to die the entire time.”
