Continuing their collaborative cover series, Bill Callahan and Bonnie ‘Price’ Billy have offered their take on Iggy Pop’s ‘I Want To Go To The Beach’, from his 2009 album Préliminaires. For this one, they’ve enlisted Cooper Crain, known for his work with Chicago bands like Bitchin’ Bajas and CAVE. Check out their version below, along with the original.
Last week, Callahan and Will Oldham delivered a special rendition of ‘The Wild Kindness’ by the late David Berman’s band Silver Jews, featuring contributions from Cassie Berman, David Pajo, Haley Fohr (Circuit des Yeux), Meg Baird, and Matt Sweeney, and more. Over the past few months, they’ve tackled songs by Steely Dan, Yusuf / Cat Stevens, Dave Rich, Billie Eilish, Robert Wyatt, Lou Reed, Johnnie Frierson, Air Supply, and Leonard Cohen, among others.
