Beyoncé Remembers Late Fan Lyric Chanel with Tribute Medley

Beyoncé has shared an a capella medley of songs in memory of Lyric “Yhung” Chanel, a 13-year-old girl who died on Friday after years of battling brain cancer and anaplastic ependymoma. The medley, overlaid with images and videos from Chanel’s Instagram, includes the songs ‘Brown Skin Girl’, ‘Halo’, and ‘Love On Top’, with Beyoncé swapping out the word “baby” for “Lyric.” She ends the video by saying, “I love you with all of my heart.” Listen to the medley below.

Chanel garnered a large following on social media, where she and her family documented her two-year battle with the disease, with Beyoncé, Cardi B, and over 600,000 others following her journey.

Go Gold for Childhood Cancer shared the tragic news of Lyric’s death on Instagram yesterday (March 6). “Lyric gained her angel wings this morning at the age of 13 years old,” the statement reads. “Lyric bravely battled Anaplastic Ependymoma and endured more than a child ever should. She loved singing, listening to music, and dancing. I know she most definitely dancing with all the angels right now. Watch over your family baby girl! You are forever missed!”
