Lucinda Williams Covers Sharon Van Etten’s ‘Save Yourself’

Sharon Van Etten has unveiled a new cover from epic Ten, the upcoming 10th anniversary reissue of her 2010 LP Epic. Following Big Red Machine’s take on opener ‘A Crime’ and IDLES’s cover of ‘Peace Signs’, Lucinda Williams has released a version of Van Etten’s ‘Save Yourself’. Check it out below.

“I am in tears listening to Lucinda Williams’ interpretation of ‘Save Yourself,’ owning my words, watching her perform, giving it her heart,” Van Etten wrote on Instagram, where she also shared a photo of the first time she met Williams.  “I shyly came back stage after being invited and she walked up to me with a glass of wine in her hand singing “Every time the sun comes up I’m in trouble…”. I wanted to cry. Cannot believe she made the time to cover my song with such devotion.⁣”

epic Ten arrives digitally April 6 and physically June 11 via Ba Da Bing. Van Etten will be sharing a new cover from the record each Thursday up until the album’s release.
