Cautious Clay Announces Debut Album ‘Deadpan Love’, Shares New Single ‘Karma & Friends’

Singer-songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Cautious Clay has announced his debut album, Deadpan Love. It arrives on June 25 via The Orchard. Below, check out a video for the new single ‘Karma & Friends’, and scroll down for the LP’s cover artwork (by Leeor Wild) and tracklist.

In addition to ‘Karma & Friends’, Deadpan Love includes the previously released singles ‘Roots’, ‘Dying In The Subtlety’, and ‘Agreeable’. Following his 2017 EP Table of Context, the album features collaborations with co-writers such as Tobias Jesso Jr., Jim-E Stack, and Daniel Nigro.

Deadpan Love explores the ways I cope with the worst of what humanity has to offer,” Cautious said in a statement. “It’s about opposites—having an outer layer that’s tougher, this “deadpan” state, and an inner layer of compassion, where you’re open to being there for the people you care about. It’s this warring compassion and cynicism that has empowered me to express myself through this medium.”
