Logic and Madlib have formed a new project called MadGic, sharing their first collaborative song, ‘Mars Only pt. 3.’ Check it out below.
Logic hinted at the possibility of a Madlib collaboration during an interview with Anthony Fantano of The Needle Drop last September, as Pitchfork points out. “Logic and Madlib is MadGic, your catalogue tragic/ Fuck a underground, fuck a pop sound/ Made this whole album in a lockdown, hip hop is our town,” Logic raps on the track.
‘Mars Only pt. 3’ marks one of the Maryland rapper’s first new songs since announcing his “retirement;” he released ‘Tired in Malibu’ earlier this month (“Retired for a minute/But I guess I’m back man,” he said on that song). His most recent album was last year’s No Pressure. In February, Madlib released a collaborative LP with Four Tet’s Kieran Hebden titled Sound Ancestors.
