Warpaint Unveil New Single ‘Lilys’

Warpaint are back with a new single called ‘Lilys’. Marking the group’s first piece of new music since their 2016 album Heads Up and 2020’s ‘The Brakes’, the track was co-produced by Sam Petts-Davies and appears in the HBO series Made for Love. Take a listen below.

“This track started as an experiment,” the band said in a statement. “We were messing around with synth sounds and trying for something textural and almost atonal at times. It wasn’t intended to make its way to our album sessions. But after some mining and editing it became a really nice bed for a melody. It’s one of those things that just flows out without much thought. It’s so sweetly satisfying when that happens!”

Following the release of Heads Up, the band’s Theresa Wayman issued her debut solo LP under the moniker TT, 2018’s LoveLaws. Last year, drummer Stella Mozgawa teamed up with Josh Homme for his Desert Sessions series. Earlier this year, Warpaint shared a cover of Gang of Four’s ‘Paralysed’ for the tribute compilation The Problem of Leisure: A Celebration of Andy Gill and Gang of Four.
