Anjimile Unveils New ‘1978 (Reunion)’ Featuring Lomelda

This Friday, Anjimile is releasing a new EP of orchestral reimaginings of songs from his debut LP, Giver Taker, which came out last year. He’s now previewed the 3-track collection with a new version of ‘1978’ sung by Lomelda’s Hannah Read. Check out ‘1978 (Reunion)’ below.

The string sections for Reunion were written and recorded by composer Daniel Hart. In addition to ‘1978 (Reunion)’, the EP also includes a previously shared rendition of ‘In Your Eyes’ featuring Jay Som as well a rendition of ‘Maker’ with SASAMI.

“The most exciting part of this project for me was giving the participating artists free reign to fuck around with my songs and make them into something purely collaborative, something special, and something new,” Anjimile said in a statement. “When Daniel sent me his arrangements, they knocked me on my ass. They’re so beautiful and so interesting, and every guest vocalist on this record creates such a beautiful new world and a distinctive sonic palette. It’s been really fun and exciting to see my tunes re-interpreted, re-imagined and reconstructed by such powerful musicians.”
