Coldplay have released a brand new song called ‘Higher Power’. The track was produced by Max Martin, who the band called “a true wonder of the universe” upon announcing the song last week. “Higher Power is a song that arrived on a little keyboard and a bathroom sink at the start of 2020,” they wrote on Twitter. A video for the track premiered via an extraterrestrial transmission from the International Space Station. Watch it below.
The band also talked to French astronaut Thomas Pesquet, who is currently aboard the ISS. “It’s amazing how small and kind of finite and fragile the Earth is,” he said. “From space, you can clearly see it’s an oasis, it’s a ball, it’s self-contained. Everything we have is here and there’s nothing else anywhere else. So you have to use your resources wisely. You have to share, you have to work together.”
‘Higher Power’ marks Coldplay’s first piece of new music in two years. Their last album was 2019’s Everyday Life.
