Mdou Moctar Releases Video for New Song ‘Taliat’

Mdou Moctar has released a new single called ‘Tliat’, taken from his upcoming album Afrique Victime. The track comes with an accompanying video, which you can check out below.

Taliat means woman,” Moctar said in a press release. “In our community, women are queens, they have a lot of power, that why I use the term taliat to talk about them. A woman in the Tuareg community has to be protected, but she also has to be treated as equal.”

Afrique Victime comes out this Friday, May 21 via Matador. It includes the previously shared tracks ‘Chismiten’, ‘Tala Tannam’, and the title track, which was our Song of the Week.
