2nd Grade Share New Version of ‘Favorite Song’ From Upcoming ‘Wish You Were Here Tour’ Reissue

2nd Grade – the Philadelphia power pop outfit led by Peter Gill and featuring members of Remember Sports, Free Cake For Every Creature, and Friendship – have announced Wish You Were Here Tour Revisited, a rerecorded version of an older project Gill originally recorded to GarageBand in a friend’s bathroom in 2018. Set for release on June 25 via Double Double Whammy, the album will feature full-band reworkings of those older songs, plus remastered versions of the 14 original tracks and one outtake.

2nd Grade have previewed Wish You Were Here Tour Revisited with the lead single ‘Favorite Song’. “It amazes me on just how many levels ‘Favorite Song’ works, for a sub-2 minute song that practically wrote itself,” Gill said in a statement. “It’s a total celebration of listening to music, my absolute favorite thing to do in this world. It’s an attempt to tell both sides of a sad misunderstanding. It’s proof of the John Ashbery quote about how proper nouns are the most descriptive words in the English language. Not least of all, it’s a carefully crafted piece in the tradition of ‘April Come She Will’ that nonetheless rejects such a tidy narrative. The stories we tell ourselves through pop music often fail to square up with the facts of our predicaments, but sometimes they can make us feel a whole lot better.”

2nd Grade issued their debut album, Hit To Hitin May 2020.
