Polo G Arrested in Miami Following Police Altercation

Polo G was arrested in Miami early Saturday (June 12) following an altercation with local police. The Chicago rapper was booked on charges of battery against a police officer, resisting arrest, and criminal mischief. According to police records obtained by the Miami Herald, his bail is set at $19,500.

Polo G’s mother and manager Stacia Mac took to Instagram to address the situation on Friday night, saying that Polo G after he and his younger brother (a minor who is also a rapper known as Trench Baby) were pulled over while leaving an album release party for Polo G’s new album Hall of Fame, which was released earlier that day. “My kids called me in a frenzy saying the police are behind them, 20 cars behind them … They refused to let me speak to my minor son, who is 16-years-old,” she said. “They stopped them because they were driving while Black.”

Mac also wrote on Twitter, “None of these charges would be possible if the POLICE did not make contact with my son Polo G!!! He was NOT the driver. He was a PASSENGER in a professionally licensed vehicle with security. He was moving smart and correctly. What more could he have done.”

Miami Police tweeted on Saturday morning that it is “aware of the incident involving Mr. Taurus Bartlett, also known as Polo G, and another male juvenile. We will provide updates as they become available. The department has initiated a review of this incident, which will include an examination of all camera footage to ensure adherence to departmental policy and law.”
