Hatchie Shares Cover of Jennifer Paige’s ‘Crush’

Hatchie has offered her take on Jennifer Paige’s 1998 hit ‘Crush’. The Australian singer-songwriter recently signed to Secretly Canadian, and the track is her contribution to the label’s 25th anniversary singles series. Check it out below, along with a new original from the Oakland band Meernaa called ‘Bells’.

“I’d been thinking of covering ‘Crush’ for a few years before this opportunity arose,” Hatchie’s Harriette Pilbeam said in a statement. “I always thought the lyrics were much more moody than the bright chorus they were paired with, so I wanted to shift the focus. I was super keen to be involved with SC25 when asked. It’s cool to be amongst some great artists doing the same.”

All proceeds from SC25 will go to the Bloomington-based non-profit organisation New Hope For Families. Since launching this spring, Bartees Strange, Tasha, Jim James, NNAMDÏ, Skullcrusher, Stella Donnelly, Porridge Radio, and more have participated in the series.
