Paul King’s 2023 film Wonka focuses on the origin story of Willy Wonka. It follows Timothée Chalamet as Willy Wonka, who dreams of opening a shop in a city renowned for its chocolate. However, as he starts to make moves towards his goal, his luck runs dry as he puts himself into debt to Mrs. Scrubitt. Even worse, Wonka finds out that the local chocolate industry is run by a chocolate cartel led by Gerald Prodnose (Matt Lucas), Arthur Slugworth (Paterson Joseph), and Felix Fickelgruber (Mathew Baynton).
Upon its release, the Warner Bros film received positive critical acclaim for Wonka, with critics describing it as “entertaining” and “dazzling”. The film delivered well at the Box Office, making $39 million on its opening, indicating it as a fan favourite for the December film season.
