The Jesus Lizard have announced Rack, their first album since 1998’s Blue. It’s out September 13 via Ipecac, and today’s announcement comes with the release of the new single ‘Hide & Seek’. Check it out along with the Austin noise rock band’s just-announced tour dates.
In a press release, vocalist David Yow described ‘Hide & Seek’ as “a perky ditty about a witch who can’t behave, and it’s got nearly as many hooks as a Mike Tyson fight.” Guitarist Duane Denison added, “There are definitely some references to the past, but it’s more as a point of departure: We don’t stay there.”
The Jesus Lizard reconvened in 2009 for a small number of shows. “We literally only made the record because we thought it would be fun to make the record,” bassist David Wm. Drummer Mac McNeilly commented, “We are bonded by the music we make, and also by the respect we have for each other.”
