Palia: New release date delights console cosy-gamers

Singularity 6, the developers now home to several big-hitters from names like Blizzard and Riot, have announced the console release date for their debut game, Palia.

Palia, was announced back in 2021 and has been met with excitement from eager casual gamers since. With an open-beta release on PC and Nintendo Switch in August 2023, Singularity have set their eyes on console gamers with a summer drop for PlayStation and Xbox.

The game follows the growing trend of ‘cosy’ gaming, focusing on homely aesthetics and task-based gameplay instead of gritty conflict and ultra-realistic or flashy graphics.

The genre is set to grow immensely in 2025 with brand new titles like Wanderstop and Sugardew Island having already dropped, with heavy hitters like Tales of the Shire still set to come later in the year.

Gameplay Features:

The story revolves around the player being dropped into the world of the Majiri people, a community who have long believed that humans have gone extinct. Within this world you must navigate story-filled quests and engaging yet relaxing tasks familiar to all cosy-gamers like cooking, crafting and decorating your house.

It’s also fully cross-platform, meaning that you can team up with your friends in the fantasy life-sim.

The game is currently available free-to-play with various in-game monetisation features.

Palia is now home to over 800 decor items, and has been praised for its sizable update schedule with new features coming to the game regularly and often in large content drops.

In January the game saw new seasonal events introduced like the Luna New Year to add flavour to the game’s seasons cycle, as well as new features for premium account players through the Zeki Loyalty Club which provides consistent players daily rewards.

Console Release Date:

Palia will hit consoles in summer, with a May 13 release date. The game’s first major expansion is set to come out on the same day, meaning that PC and Switch players will also be experiencing a fresh new set of features and gameplay.

The game will however only be released on the new generation of consoles, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, disappointing PS4 and Xbox One gamers.
