The full list of nominees for the 2025 Mercury Prize has been revealed. The shortlist includes CMAT (EURO-COUNTRY), Emma-Jean Thackray (Weirdo), FKA twigs (EUSEXUA), Fontaines D.C. (Romance), Jacob Alon (In Limerence), Joe Webb (Hamstrings & Hurricanes), Martin Carthy (Transform Me Then Into a Fish), Pa Salieu (Afrikan Alien), PinkPantheress (Fancy That), Pulp (More), Sam Fender (People Watching), and Wolf Alice (The Clearing).
Just two of the 12 shortlisted albums are full-length debuts: In Limerence by Scottish folk songwriter Jacob Alon, and Hamstrings and Hurricanes by Welsh jazz musician Joe Webb.
CMAT was previously recognised for 2023’s Crazymad, for Me; FKA twigs for her 2014 debut LP1; Fontaines DC for their 2019 debut Dogrel; Sam Fender for his sophomore album, 2021’s Seventeen Going Under. Wolf Alice and Pulp have both been nominated thrice and won once. This is PinkPantheress’ first Mercury Prize nomination.
This year’s Mercury Prize ceremony will take place October 16 at Newcastle’s Utilita Arena. Last year’s winner was English Teacher’s This Could Be Texas.
