Manor Lords: Everything New in the Latest Experimental Beta

Manor Lords has officially launched a new experimental Beta. Version 0.8.035 is the game’s first update since January 2025. It is also the largest patch yet, following months of silence from the developer. This October update adds new content and system changes.

First Beta Update in Over Eight Months

As per GameRant, the Early Access launch of Manor Lords in 2024 was a big hit. It even sold more than one million copies in one day. The hype also resulted in a high volume of sales. Consequently, developer Slavic Magic followed up with more updates throughout the second half of 2024.

However, the game has not been receiving patches since January this year. The reason remained unknown until the recent announcement on Steam. Specifically, Lead Developer Greg stated that he faced several problems that led to the halt. He also apologized for the delay.

“Sorry for taking so long this time…I focused on expanding the developer team and tackled way too many issues at once,” Greg said in the Steam blog.

Likewise, he explained that the team had to fix old code and realign design goals. Nonetheless, fans can now try all the new changes in the game.

Maps, Game Modes, Jobs, and Buildings

According to the Steam announcement, the update brings four new maps. These are the Devil’s Hill, Divided, Jagged Cliffs, and Large Lake. Each one offers a different geography. From large bodies of water to cliffs, the new maps let players explore more.

Besides the new locations, two fresh game modes await Manor Lords fans. First is Duel. It is a one-versus-one battle with AI. Second is Fractured Realm. This mode pits four lords against each other in a free-for-all.

At the same time, the patch brings new jobs and buildings. In detail, these are the Lime Kiln, Quarry, and Stonemason. Each of these has connected resources. These ties include the Dressed Stone, Mortar, and Rough Stone. All of the new additions help in upgrading castles.

Reworked Systems in the Game

Lead Developer Greg also said that the update rebuilt and expanded multiple systems. It gives players more control and depth. The improved systems are the following:

  • Castle Upgrade System
  • Affinity System
  • Maintenance System
  • Yield System
  • Approval System Rework
  • Food Resource Rework
  • Regional Development System Rework

AI Towns and More Changes

Based on the official announcement, another major addition is the early version of AI towns. Although the AI cannot attack yet, the towns already look natural and organic.

Parts of version 0.8.035 are balance improvements, UI optimization, bug fixes, cosmetic additions, and other minor changes. For full patch notes, visit Steam

Looking Ahead

After the problems the developers faced in the past months, they are now planning differently. The new goal is to launch smaller but more frequent updates. With the fresh approach, Manor Lords can continue growing into the game that fans hoped for.
