Jenny Hollingsworth, one half of Let’s Eat Grandma, has announced her debut album under the moniker Jenny on Holiday. Quicksand Heart is set for release on January 9 via Transgressive. It includes the previously released single ‘Every Ounce of Me’, as well as a new single, the wondrous, yearning ‘Dolphins’. Check it out and find the album artwork and tracklist below.
“I used to get this feeling that everyone had hearts made of different materials—and I felt like mine was a bit defective,” Hollingsworth said of the album’s titular image. “I feel like my heart and my head are all made from the wrong things. That image is about wanting to be loved, and to love and live as a human does, despite the fact you’re maybe like the Tinman in The Wizard of Oz.” –
Hollingsworth tracked Quicksand Heart in London with Steph Marziano. “I’m so excited by the pop format—to be able to put something emotionally complex into this simple, accessible form,” she added.
‘Dolphins’ comes paired with a video directed by Nina Dellow. “My vision for ‘Dolphins’ was to explore those moments in between dreaming and waking, seeing and thinking,” Dellow commented. “There is so much tenderness and raw emotion in this song, yet there is still space to wonder; it is both intimate and abstract. Here we really see the artist and are invited to sit and dream with her for a while.”
