Following the breakthrough success of last year’s Box for Buddy, Box for Star, This Is Lorelei – the project of Water From Your Eyes’ Nate Amos – has announced a new LP. Billed as “neither a retrospective compilation, nor a traditionally new LP,” Holo Boy finds the New York City-based singer-songwriter revisiting older material, collecting 10 re-recorded versions of songs from 9 different releases written from 2014 to 2021. Check out ‘Name the Band’, originally from 2021’s Jimmy Buffet Tape EP, below.
“I tried to look at the catalog as little as possible and more just think to myself, ‘What are songs from the past that I feel like are good songs, demonstrate growth, and are significant to me, in terms of embodying a certain period of time?’” Nate Amos said in a statement.
“The songs on Box for Buddy, Box for Star are really similar, and they’re produced in such a way that the differences are accentuated,” he added, “whereas with Holo Boy, the songs are really different, but they’re produced in such a way that the commonalities are accentuated.”
Holo Boy is out December 12 via Double Double Whammy. Check out our Artist Spotlight interview with This Is Lorelei.
