Fontaines D.C.’s Grian Chatten has shared ‘Puppet’, an eerie, slow-burning track that serves as the first preview of the just-announced Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man movie soundtrack. It was written and recorded alongside composers Antony Genn and Martin Slatter. Listen below.
“As I was working with Ant and Martin on writing these tracks, I had the joy of watching and rewatching the scenes, and different things would reveal themselves to me each time,” Chatten said in a statement. “It’s an interesting thing to not spoil or over narrate a scene and to allow the pictures to speak for themselves. It was a bit of a balancing act.”
Spanning 36 tracks, the soundtrack also features Amy Taylor of Amyl & the Sniffers as well as Carlos O’Connell and Tom Coll from Fontaines D.C. In addition to ‘Puppy’, Chatten contributed a cover of Massive Attack’s ‘Angel’ and collaborated with Lankum for a new take on ‘Hunting the Wren’. Nick Cave recorded a new version of ‘Right Hand Man’ for it, too. The soundtrack is out March 6, and the film will be released in select cinemas the same day before hitting Netflix on March 20.
Last week, Chatten teamed up with Damon Albarn and Kae Tempest for ‘Flags’, a new song for the upcoming benefit album HELP(2).
