Apple TV’s Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is the kind of series you didn’t know you needed, but are extremely happy to have around. The show expands on the Monsterverse but also successfully stands on its own, giving fans new and old plenty of drama and action to chew on.
The series premiered in late 2023 to good reviews and audience buzz. Now, it’s back with its second season, with new episodes arriving weekly. Could a third installment be just around the corner?
Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Season 3 Release Date
At the time of writing, Apple TV hasn’t officially renewed the show for more episodes. That said, season 2 hasn’t wrapped up yet, so there’s time.
The streamer did announce a spin-off, so it obviously has confidence that Monsterverse content can perform well. While the upcoming series doesn’t have a name yet, it will see Wyatt Russell reprising his role as Colonel Lee Shaw.
As long Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season 3 gets the green light, it could arrive in a couple of years.

What Is Monarch: Legacy of Monsters About?
A sci-fi drama, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is set within the Monsterverse, the same universe where Godzilla and Kong exist. Gripping from the get-go, it blends kaiju spectacle with a multi-generational mystery.
The story unfolds across two timelines. In present day, post-Godzilla (2014), siblings Cate and Kentaro Randa investigate their missing father and uncover his ties to Monarch. That’s a secretive organization that tracks and studies Titans, or massive Godzilla-like creatures.
In the 1950s, meanwhile, scientists Bill Randa and Keiko Miura, alongside soldier Lee Shaw, help build Monarch from the ground up. They discover that these creatures are not myths, but ancient forces shaping the planet. The Randa family is entangled with Titans, so expect secrets and betrayals to ripple across decades.
The second season of the series introduces Titan X, a deep-sea, tentacled creature tied to ancient mythology. As for what Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season 3 might bring, it’s a bit early to speculate. For now, you can enjoy new episodes weekly on Apple TV. The finale is scheduled for May 1.
