Ariana Grande has been hinting at a new album. Reportedly coming this summer, it will mark the pop star’s first album since 2022’s Eternal Sunshine. Here’s everything we know so far.
When did Ariana Grande start teasing a new album?
On Wednesday (April 8), Grande posted a carousel of photos of herself in the studio. According to TMZ, the photos are not archival, and sources told the publication that the singer has already finished working on a new album, with plans to release it “around summertime.”
What has Ariana Grande said about the new album?
Nothing directly. But prior to the release of Eternal Sunshine, Grande set up the Brighter Days hotline, which fans noticed had updated its message last month. “Our staff here at brighter days are so looking forward to continuing our mission of bringing happiness and healing to as many as we can this summer in person,” it read. “we’re counting down the 8s — oops, i mean the days.” The singer will embark on a brief Eternal Sunshie Tour, which kicks off June 6 in Oakland.
What’s kept Ariana Grande busy since her last album?
Promoting the two Wicked movies, mostly – the first of which earned her an Oscar nomination. While on a press tour for Wicked: for Good, she discussed taking a break from music, but this January promised new music would come “soon enough,” telling Variety: “Nothing is coming before May. I love [the fans] so much, but sometimes I want to ask, ‘Do you think there’s another version of me out there who had time to write an album?’ Not yet — but soon enough.” She still has several acting roles coming up, including in a season of American Horror Story, the Meet the Parents sequel Focker In-Law, and the animated Dr. Seuss adaptation Oh, the Places You’ll Go!.
