Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment has officially gotten a release date. The announcement came during the recently ended Nintendo Direct. It also follows Nintendo’s earlier “winter” launch window, giving fans a firm date to look forward to.
A Prequel to the Critically Acclaimed Game
Age of Imprisonment is a prequel to the famous The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom game. In particular, it builds on the story that fans briefly saw in Tears of the Kingdom. Likewise, this game dives into the untold story of the Imprisoning War. It is an ancient conflict against the Demon King Ganondorf that shaped Hyrule’s history.
Classic Hack-and-Slash Gameplay with New Features
Based on a GameSpot article, this prequel continues the hack-and-slash gameplay style made popular by the Warriors series. Developed by Koei Tecmo and Nintendo, players can play as different famous heroes. Playable characters include King Rauru, Korok, Princess Zelda, and Queen Sonia. The prequel also adds tactical choices to battles as the heroes defend Hyrule from enemies. This time, players can use Zonai devices to control elements such as water and wind.
In the trailer, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment features large-scale battles against foes. It also adds “Sync Strikes.” These are cooperative attacks by two players to throw strong combos.
Local Co-op and GameShare Support
Nintendo has confirmed that the upcoming title supports two-player local co-op through split-screen play. In the same way, the GameShare feature lets players join multiplayer battles even if only one of them owns the game. The team-up feature makes the game more accessible for friends and family to play.
Amiibo and Save Data Bonuses
Besides the exciting story, several gifts await fans. Players can scan any Legend of Zelda amiibo figures to unlock crafting materials and other items. In the same way, fans who have saved data from previous games will receive special weapons. With saved data from Age of Calamity, players get the High Guard’s Claymore. The saved data from Tears of the Kingdom gives players the High Guard’s Sword. However, they can only get these rewards after completing the Howling Tempest mission.
Special Edition
The new game from Koei Tecmo and Nintendo will include a special “Treasure Box” in Japan. This edition comes with an acrylic standee, two clear sheets, a cloth poster, a keychain, and a scarf.
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment drops on November 6 for Nintendo Switch 2. Physical and digital options will both sell for $69.99 at major stores.
