Nintendo Switch 2 has just received a new set of backward compatibility fixes. The changes are part of the firmware update for the gaming console in late September. At first, the official patch notes only mentioned system stability improvements. Most players were unaware that it comes with important fixes to compatibility issues. In particular, the update focuses on five Switch 1 titles. At the same time, the video game company pointed out more problems with other earlier games. It shows that Nintendo plans to fix them soon.
Latest Firmware Update Improves Game Support
According to Nintendo Everything, version 20.5.0 lets five titles work better on Switch 2. In detail, the games that received the fixes are the following:
- Deemo Reborn – A fully 3D detailed remake of Rayark’s classic game.
- Library of Ruina – An indie deck-building RPG from Project Moon.
- Powerful Pro Baseball 2024-2025 – An entry in the pro baseball game series that tries to feel real.
- Ultra Age – A futuristic action-adventure game with mutants and robots.
- Warframe – A fast-paced multiplayer RPG from Digital Extremes.
Also, the update itself is small and quick to install. Players should only take a few moments to download it. In the same way, this makes sure that most users can get it without delays and problems.
Addressing More Compatibility Challenges
GameRant said that Nintendo has also found more issues. Specifically, these are problems that affect other Switch 1 games when played on the device’s new version.
Here is a look at the titles and concerns:
- Jelly Troops – Currently unsupported due to game progression problems.
- Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning – Players still see graphical glitches even after its earlier update.
- Mugen Souls – Problems with showing some items after players get them.
- Subway Simulator 2025: City Train – There are animation glitches in parts of the game.
- Transistor – Docking or undocking the console sometimes cause it to crash.
The Japanese game company has also updated the eShop pages of the titles. They now show warnings about the current issues. Still, Nintendo is finding ways to fix the problems.
Commitment to Backward Compatibility
Nintendo has said that the Switch 2 do not have full compatibility with all titles. The company made it clear from the get-go. Some games may not work due to hardware-specific features. Also, certain titles have accessories that do not work with the new device.
However, Nintendo has been trying to fix these issues. The current and upcoming compatibility patches show their clear commitment. With this, Switch 2 users can expect continued improvements with new updates likely to arrive soon.
