2026 Oscars Shortlist for Best Original Song Includes Nine Inch Nails, Nick Cave, and More

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announces its shortlists for 12 categories, including Best Original Song and Best Original Score. Nine Inch Nails, Ed Sheeran, Miley Cyrus, Nick Cave, and a KPop Demon Hunters cut are among the 15 potential Song nominees. For the second year in a row, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross are shortlisted for both Best Original Song and Best Original Score, appearing in the latter category alongside selections from composers Jerskin Fendrix (Bugonia), Jonny Greenwood for (One Battle After Another), Alexandre Desplat (Frankenstein), Oneohtrix Point Never’s Daniel Lopatin (Marty Supreme), and 17 additional picks. The final nominations for the 98th Academy Awards will be revealed on Thursday, January 2. The ceremony itself will take place on March 15, 2026, with Conan O’Brien returning as host.
