Book Arts Revolution: Five Women Artists at Christie’s

From 10-12 February, five contemporary artists working with the book as artistic medium will be exhibited at Christie’s London as part of the Women to Watch series. The exhibition features works shortlisted for the National Museum of Women in the Arts’ 2027 programme in Washington DC.

Shortlisted by Dr Welmoet Wartena in collaboration with NMWA’s UK outreach committee, A Book Arts Revolution presents artists who use books to explore language, memory and perception. The exhibition celebrates the work of Tamsin Green, Larissa Nowicki, Francisca Prieto, Batool Showghi and Rachel Smith, whose works range from architectural book sculptures to deconstructed artist monographs, each interrogating how we read and interpret the world.

NMWA curators Elizabeth Ajunwa and Tia Blassingame will make the final selection for next year’s Washington exhibition. Previous UK participants include Rose Wylie, whose Women to Watch involvement helped launch her international career, along with Noemie Goudal, Mary Evans and Rana Begum.

The exhibition opens with a fundraising vernissage on Tuesday 10 February, 6-8pm, with all proceeds supporting the UK show and 2027 Washington participation. Women to Watch UK: A Book Arts Revolution runs 10-12 February at Christie’s, 8 King Street, London SW1Y 6QT.
