Lucy Dacus has released ‘Talk’, a dynamic and confrontational new single from her forthcoming album Forever Is a Feeling. Julia Sanders Announces New Album ‘Dark Matter’, Enlists Esther Rose for New Song

Julia Sanders has announced a new album, Dark Matter. The Asheville-based artist will release her third album on May 16, and the profoundly candid title track, out today, features Esther Rose. Check it out below.

Dark Matter was produced by John James Tourville (The Deslondes). “The album takes on really difficult questions,” Sanders explained in a press release. “But the point isn’t to answer them. It’s to surrender. To the unknown. To the invisible magic that—hey, turns out—makes up most of our world.”

Sanders met Esther Rose while they were both living in New Orleans. “This song became a way to write about the unknowns we live with every day and the ways in which we try so hard to create meaning,” Sanders said. “It begins with a line about the seemingly endless instinct to wonder why, but the older I get, the more I resonate with the later verse: ‘The only thing to master/ Live in question need no answer.'”

“One of my favorite things in this world is singing with Esther,” she added. “I love the way she builds harmony and the unique way our voices click together. Her bright notes in the chorus mixed with that little riff from Steve’s guitar makes me think of a shooting star, or a lightspeed jump in space.”

billy woods has announced a new album titled GOLLIWOG, which is set to land May 9 on Backwoodz Studioz. It’s led by the eerily hypnotic two-minute track ‘Misery’, which was produced by Kenny Segal. Check it out below.

GOLLIWOG, the follow-up to woods’ 2023 Kenny Segal collaboration Maps, features production from El-P, the Alchemist, Shabaka Hutchings, Conductor Williams, DJ Haram, Preservation, Steel Tipped Dove, Messiah Musik, Sadhugold, Willie Green, Jeff Markey, Saint Abdullah, Human Error Club, and Atmosphere’s Ant. Guests on the record include billy woods’ Armand Hammer bandmate ELUCID, Bruiser Wolf, Despot, Cavalier, al.divino, and Yolanda Watson.

“When I was nine years old, I wrote a story about an evil golliwog,” woods said in a press release. “My mother read it and told me it was overly derivative and needed some work. Here we are.”
