Designer Bojun Tan Redefines Spray-Paint Lettering with Bold Creativity

0

Bojun Tan, a multiple international award-winning graphic designer based in New Jersey, is making waves in the design world with his experimental take on spray-painted lettering. While his professional work spans branding across various industries, it’s his personal design projects that truly showcase his creativity and passion for pushing boundaries.

One of Bojun’s most celebrated projects, Spray, earned the prestigious Gold Award at the 2023 Muse International Awards, renowned for their elite jury panel and dedication to recognizing excellence in design and creativity. Spray is a reimagined alphabet series that combines sharp details with soft gradients, pushing the boundaries of traditional typography.

Bojun crafts each letter using custom folded-paper stencils, a technique that introduces unique depth and dimension. By manipulating the folds, he brings parts of the stencil closer while pulling others away, creating a striking interplay between sharp edges and blurred transitions. This delicate balance between precision and fluidity gives the work a sense of movement and energy, making it visually captivating and thought-provoking.

“Spray is my way of exploring the contrast between control and unpredictability,” Bojun shares. “Spray paint has this wild energy, but adding deliberate techniques like folding and layering brings out something completely new and unexpected.”

Bojun’s creative process is fluid and open to inspiration from everywhere. He mixes traditional and digital tools, drawing from street art, architecture, and even drawing techniques to shape his designs. This broad range of influences helps his work feel fresh and full of life, breaking away from conventional graphic design rules.

For Bojun, each project starts with curiosity. “I like to let ideas grow naturally,” he says. “Design, for me, is about finding connections between different art forms and creating something that makes people stop and think.” His ability to adapt and experiment lets him discover surprising results, which keep his work exciting and original.

Spray is more than just an alphabet—it’s a new way of looking at lettering. The unique mix of materials and techniques challenges what typography can be, showing that even something as familiar as the alphabet can be transformed into something unexpected and full of character.

Bojun’s work stands out because it feels real and relatable. He takes simple materials like paper and spray paint and turns them into something exciting and thought-provoking. By experimenting and staying open to new ideas, he’s proving that creativity is all about trying new things and seeing where they lead.

With projects like Spray, Bojun is showing that design doesn’t have to follow the same old rules. His bold approach and fresh ideas are inspiring others to take risks and see the possibilities in their own work. It’s clear he’s just getting started, and we can’t wait to see what he creates next.

Choosing a Courthouse Wedding Dress

Deciding what to wear to your wedding isn’t always a straightforward task, particularly if you’re planning a courthouse wedding. Once the date is set, it’s time to start considering the courthouse wedding dress you’ll wear on your big day. While some couples may opt for a traditional wedding with a formal dress code, a courthouse wedding offers a unique blend of formality and casualness that can make picking the perfect outfit a bit of a challenge.

If you find yourself wondering, “What should I wear to my courthouse wedding?” fear not! In this extensive guide, we will help you navigate the ins and outs of choosing the best courthouse wedding dress, from understanding the dress code to shopping for the perfect outfit. Let’s dive in!

Deciphering the Dress Code

Although courthouse weddings are typically less formal, the dress code can still vary greatly. In most cases, a smart-casual or semi-formal dress code applies, but it’s essential to understand what this means.

For women, a smart-casual or semi-formal dress code means a dress that falls just below the knee or a chic jumpsuit. Try to avoid overly casual pieces like jeans, t-shirts, or sneakers. For men, a smart-casual or semi-formal dress code would typically involve a suit and tie, or perhaps a dress shirt and tailored trousers.

Considering the Venue and Time

While courthouse weddings are less formal, they still retain a sense of decorum and respect due to the nature of the venue. It’s important to consider the time of the wedding as well, as this can impact your outfit choice. Daytime weddings usually call for lighter colors and fabrics, while evening weddings can allow for more formal and darker attire.

The Golden Rule: No White

Unless explicitly stated, avoid wearing white to your courthouse wedding. While this rule is less strict for courthouse weddings, it’s still important to consider. You may choose to wear a dress with shades of off-white or cream, but try to avoid pure white as it can distract from the bride.

Choosing a Courthouse Wedding Dress

Now that you understand the dress code, it’s time to start shopping for your courthouse wedding dress. Here are some expert-approved tips to help you make the best choice.

Prioritizing Comfort

Comfort should be your top priority when choosing a courthouse wedding dress. Remember, you will likely be standing and moving around throughout the ceremony, so choose a dress that allows you to do so comfortably. Opt for breathable fabrics like cotton or linen, which are perfect for daytime courthouse weddings.

Keeping It Simple

A courthouse wedding calls for a simpler, more understated look compared to a traditional wedding. That being said, you can still look stylish and chic. Consider a minimalist dress with clean lines, or a jumpsuit for a modern twist. Avoid overly complicated designs or excessively elaborate details.

Accessorizing

Accessories can make or break your courthouse wedding look. A statement necklace or a pair of elegant earrings can elevate a simple dress, while a stylish clutch or a pair of classic heels can add a touch of sophistication. For men, a tie or pocket square in a bold color can make a big difference.

How to Prevent Burnout and Recoup for the New Year

As we approach the end of another year, it’s not uncommon to feel the cumulative weight of the past months weighing heavily upon us. This sensation, often a blend of exhaustion, cynicism, and a sense of inefficacy, is the hallmark of burnout. It can affect all areas of our lives, diminishing our productivity and happiness. Yet, with the new year on the horizon, we’re presented with an opportune moment to step back, reassess, and prevent burnout from overshadowing our aspirations for the upcoming year. In this article, we will explore comprehensive strategies to combat burnout and enter the new year rejuvenated.

Understanding Burnout

The first critical step in combating burnout is to understand it. Burnout is a state of emotional, physical, and mental exhaustion caused by excessive and prolonged stress. It occurs when you feel overwhelmed and unable to meet constant demands. As the stress continues, you begin to lose interest in your work, your motivation dwindles, and your productivity plummets. You may feel helpless, disillusioned, or completely worn out, making it seem like you have nothing more to give.

The road to burnout is often a gradual one, making it crucial to recognize the early signs, such as chronic fatigue, insomnia, forgetfulness, increased illness, loss of appetite, anxiety, and decreased satisfaction and sense of accomplishment.

Crafting Work-Life Balance

Creating a work-life balance is essential in the fight against burnout. It means deliberately managing the distribution of your energy and time between work and personal life. This requires establishing firm boundaries: learning to say no, delegating tasks when necessary, and understanding that it’s okay not to be perfect. Work-life balance doesn’t necessarily mean an equal split of time but rather achieving a state where you feel fulfilled and content in both areas.

Effective Time Management

Effective time management is a cornerstone strategy in preventing burnout. It involves organizing and planning how to divide your time between specific activities to maximize efficiency and productivity. Prioritize tasks based on importance and urgency, and use tools and techniques that can aid in organizing your workday. For example, the Eisenhower Matrix can help in distinguishing between tasks that are important, urgent, both, or neither, allowing you to focus on what truly matters. Remember to allocate time for breaks; rest is not a reward but a fundamental part of a productive work routine.

Implementing Self-Care Practices

Self-care is an all-encompassing term for activities we engage in to ensure our well-being and happiness. This can range from physical activities such as regular exercise, proper nutrition, and sufficient sleep, to mental and emotional activities like pursuing hobbies, practicing mindfulness, or even just playing a quick game of freecell between crunch sessions. Self-care practices are personalized; what works for one person may not work for another. The key is to find and consistently engage in practices that replenish rather than deplete you.

Nurturing Relationships

Human connection plays a significant role in how we cope with stress. Nurturing relationships with friends, family, and colleagues can provide a sense of belonging and a reliable support network. It’s important to invest time and effort into maintaining these relationships, as they can be a source of comfort and joy, especially during times of high stress.

Learning to Disconnect

In our hyper-connected world, one of the most radical acts of self-care is to disconnect. This can mean setting aside time where you are completely unplugged from all forms of digital communication. Disconnecting allows us to step back from the constant influx of notifications and demands, giving us space to breathe, reflect, and engage with the world more consciously.

Preparing for the New Year

As you prepare to recoup for the new year, consider setting aside time for a personal retreat. This could mean a weekend away, a day in nature, or simply dedicated time at home without interruptions. Use this period to reflect on the past year, set intentions for the year ahead, and engage in restorative activities. It’s also a good time to consider lifestyle changes that can support your well-being, such as a healthier diet, talking to experts, or a commitment to regular sleep patterns.

Preventing burnout is about more than just surviving; it’s about thriving. As you approach the new year, take intentional steps to manage stress, prioritize self-care, and set clear boundaries. Remember that preventing burnout is an ongoing process that requires commitment and self-awareness. By taking these steps, you can ensure that you’re not just entering the new year but stepping into it with vitality, clarity, and a sense of renewed purpose.

Worst Rated Players on EA Sports FC 24

0

With the adornment of the best wonderkids in the game, there is always space to look on the other end, the worst players. In this list, we’ll look at several low-rated players in EA Sports FC 24 and discuss their potential to become slightly better players.

Deven Sawhney (Overall 47 – Potential 61)

Playing for Odisha FC in the Indian Super League, Deven Sawhney sadly ranks among the lowest in this year’s FIFA. However, there is a bright future for Sawhney as he has a potential of 61, making him a potentially solid League One player in England if he transfers. Sawhney’s best attributes come in the movement department, scoring 64 for acceleration, 61 for sprint speed, and 64 for balance.

Defending Attributes
Defensive awareness 40
Standing tackle 48
Sliding tackle 47

Finn Moore (Overall 47 – Potential 58)

With a potential of 58, Drogheda United’s Finn Moore is a potential starter for the Irish team. Sadly, at only 17 years of age, Moore is rated only at 47, placing him on the list of the worst-rated players in the game. To a lucky surprise, Moore has a release clause of £120,000, making us think twice if EA did get his rating correct.

Goalkeeper Attributes
GK Diving 47
GK Handling 48
GK Kicking 48
GK Positioning 47
GK Reflexes 48

Max Ross (Overall 47 – Potential 72)

Another lowly-rated player is the Scottish Max Ross, who plays for the SPL team Motherwell. Also 17, Ross is a centre-back with a release clause of around £330,000. Unlike the above two, Ross shows much more promise, with a potential of 72. This capability establishes him as a conceivable starter for the Motherwell side, which currently has a rating of 63. If potential overall were reached, Ross would be the strongest player on the Motherwell side, which shows you can’t trust the original rating in the game.

Defending Attributes
Defensive awareness 50
Standing tackle 52
Sliding tackle 53

Brian Romero (Overall 48 – Potential 73)

American football player Brian Romero enters the list with a high potential of 73 but a low starting overall of only 48. I’m still trying to figure out what he did to the scouts, but I want more from this 17-year-old right winger. Romero, who currently plays for Charlotte in the MLS, has some decent movement attributes, including balance at 81 and sprint speed at a respectable 68.

Dennis Egel (Overall 48 – Potential 68)

Egel of 3. Liga’s Sandhausen is another player with some decent potential and could hang in the English Championship with a potential of 68. Egel is another centre-back with some good pace for his position, certainly capable of becoming a solid player if his defensive stats improve. At 5’11, Egel isn’t the tallest centre-back but has a potentially great future ahead of him.

Defending
Defensive awareness 50

Sliding tackle 51

Jin Haoxiang (Overall 48 – Potential 54)

Returning to players with less potential, China’s Xaoxiang plays in the Chinese Super League for Zhejiang. As a 24-year-old centre-back, Jin can grow from his current rating of 48 to 54. His most important attributes are standing tackle at 56, stamina at 60, and sprint speed at 60. His agility is only at 42, and his reactions at 41.

Defending
Defensive awareness 50
Standing tackle 56
Sliding tackle 50

Freddie Issaka (Overall 50 – Potential 67)

To finish the list, we have Freddie Issaka, a Welsh striker currently playing at the Championship side Plymouth Argyle. Only 16, the rating of 50 should be a good sign for Issaka, who possesses a decent weak foot rating of 3 and some great movement. Issaka’s sprint speed is at 73, and balance at 72. With more growth and playing time, Issaka could make for a great striker for the Plymouth side in the years to come.

Watch Spotlight: TAG Heuer Monaco Gulf

The Monaco series by TAG Heuer is one of those marmite, love it or hate it timepieces. The original design was first introduced in 1969 in honour of the famous Monaco Formula One race, and it became iconic in 1971 when actor Steve McQueen wore it in the film Le Mans, directed by the prominent ’70s director Lee H. Katzin. Years later, Monaco stands tall among the most recognisable watches ever created and is still worn by drivers in the racing world, among them three-time F1 champion Max Verstappen.

In this Watch Spotlight, we’ll look at one of the latest Monaco timepieces by TAG Heuer, the Gulf, and why we adore this tribute design so much.

Design

The Gulf livery is iconic in the world of racing. It most prominently featured in Le Mans with the Gulf-JW Automotive team achieving victory at the famous 24-Hour race in 1968, 1969, and 1975. On this watch, we see a special tribute to the brand and its racing heritage with two racing stripes in their iconic blue and orange colours on the right side of the square dial. The rest of the dial also features these colours, contrasting wonderfully with the sharp blue background of the dial and the steel case.

The strap is a blue leather strap, once again offering a tough look that means business. It features a folding clasp, which is made from polished steel. The diameter of the watch is 39mm, making it suitable for the average male wrist.

Wearing It

Monaco watches are an acquired taste for the general public. However, wearing a watch you love will always present that concern.

Sadly, even the most boring watches will face criticism from peers or acquaintances. Wearing a Monaco is a bold move but certainly demands respect. Monaco wearers are trendsetters who aren’t afraid to ruffle a few feathers.

In terms of outfits, the timepiece goes well with a Sharkskin suit, mostly in blue colours. They also go great with polo t-shirts in navy, white, or even orange colours. While it doesn’t make for a great daily, it can be an excellent piece for the weekend.

Movement

The calibre behind this timepiece is the Calibre Heuer 02, an in-house chronograph movement by TAG Heuer. A power reserve of 80 hours will undoubtedly do the job for casual wearers.

Power Reserve 80
Frequency 28800

Final Thoughts

Winning is in this watch’s DNA. Everything about it smells like success, including when it won the Iconic Watch Price in 2022 at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève. Priced at £6,800.00, it’s the ultimate watch for a person with a love for racing, icons, and timepieces.

5 Interior Design Tips to Help You Create a Relaxing Bedroom

Your bedroom is your sanctuary; the place where you can unwind, recharge, and escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

To transform your bedroom into a peaceful retreat, it’s essential to consider the interior design elements that can contribute to a relaxing environment.

So, if you’re preparing to redecorate your sleeping space, here are just five tips to help you create a serene and tranquil bedroom.

1) Choose Calming a Colour Palette

Colour can have a huge impact on our emotions and mood, and this makes it a crucial element in bedroom design. When aiming for a relaxing ambiance, opt for a soothing colour palette dominated by soft, muted tones.

For example, shades of blue, green, and neutral colours like mauves and greys are excellent choices for creating a calm and serene atmosphere. These colours help to create a sense of calm and promote relaxation.

Paint experts such as Dulux offer a wide range of colours and shades that can help you create a tranquil environment.

2) Bring Nature Indoors with House Plants

Bringing a touch of nature into your bedroom can have a positive impact on your overall wellbeing and incorporating houseplants to add a sense of freshness and tranquillity.

Plants not only improve air quality but also contribute to a calming atmosphere. Low-maintenance choices are ideal for those new to indoor gardening, or who have a proven track record for forgetting to water plants.

Alternatively, you can still gain some of the relaxing benefits of house plants with artificial alternatives – a better option for the notorious plant killers out there!

3) Invest in a Quality Mattress and Bedding

Getting a good night’s sleep is one of the most essential things we can do to feel more relaxed and improve our wellbeing. And one of the biggest changes we can make is to invest in a quality mattress and cosy bedding.

Over time, our mattresses can become uncomfortable, and if yours is starting to impact your sleep, then it could be time to find something new.

Mattresses experts such as Archers Sleep Centre have a wide range of makes and models to suit every sleeping need.

4) Utilise Soft Lighting for Relaxation

Lighting plays a crucial role in setting the mood of any space, and the bedroom is no exception. Instead of relying solely on harsh overhead lighting, incorporate soft, ambient lamps and wall sconces with dimmer switches to create a warm and inviting atmosphere.

And, if your bedroom is also your workspace – a reality for some of those who work from home and live in a one bedroom or studio apartment, for example – then consider utilising colour change bulbs so that your lighting can suit a range of activities.

5) Declutter for an Organised Space

A cluttered and disorganised bedroom can contribute to stress and hinder relaxation. Take the time to tidy up your space and create an organised environment. Storage solutions such as under-bed storage bins and wall-mounted shelves can keep your belongings out of sight and or off the floor.

If you find that you’re struggling for space, then it could be time for you to have a sort-out of items that you no longer use. If these old belongings are still in good condition, consider selling them on platforms such as Vinted to bring in a little extra cash.

5 Tips for Marketing Your Fashion Brand

In the dynamic and ever-evolving world of fashion, effective marketing is crucial for the success and sustainability of your brand.

1) Invest in Your Digital Marketing Skills

Digital marketing is a broad discipline with various intricacies to learn. It can be heard to understand all the aspects that need to be incorporated into a successful digital marketing strategy, so if you’re looking to get ahead, you could consider investing in your digital marketing education.

However, with distance learning courses such as Digital Marketing BSc from Anglia Ruskin University, you can study from the comfort of your own home on a schedule that fits in with the responsibilities of running your fashion brand.

2) Leverage Social Media

In today’s digital age, social media has become an indispensable tool for marketing a fashion brand. Platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok are powerful marketing channels that allow you to showcase your brand’s personality, style, and products.

Create visually appealing and cohesive content that aligns with your brand image. Use high-quality images, engaging captions, and relevant hashtags to increase the visibility of your posts.

Social media is not only a platform for promotion but also a valuable space for building a community around your brand. Engage with your audience, respond to comments, and conduct polls to create a sense of connection and loyalty with your followers.

3) Utilise Influencer Marketing

Collaborating with influencers is a strategic way to increase the reach and credibility of your fashion brand.

Influencers have built trust with their followers, and partnering with them allows you to tap into their audience.

Use platforms such as Upfluence to identify influencers whose style and values align with your brand and establish genuine relationships with them. Whether it’s through sponsored posts, product placements, or brand ambassadorships, influencers can provide valuable exposure for your products.

4) Craft Compelling Content

Creating compelling and shareable content for your fashion brand is essential, so you should take the time to develop a content strategy that goes beyond promoting your products.

Consider creating fashion lookbooks, behind-the-scenes videos that share the story behind your brand, and styling tutorials.

And, when creating written content, it’s essential that everything you put on your website is of the highest quality. If spelling and grammar aren’t your strong suit, consider utilising services such as Grammarly to ensure everything that you post online is up to scratch.

5) Optimise the E-Commerce Experience.

One of the best ways to optimize the e-commerce experience is with ecommerce personalization. Sabino has a variety of AI personalization solutions that can help brands increase their AOV and ultimately make more money.

Ensure that your website is easy to navigate and implement secure and user-friendly payment options in order to build trust with your customers.

A positive and efficient online shopping experience not only boosts sales but also contributes to positive word-of-mouth marketing.

Hobbies That Are Great For Relaxation

Hobbies are something that brings us a lot of joy, and if you’re the type of person who wants to do hobbies to relax, here are some of the best to try. Before we get to the list, though, there is a lot of good stuff that comes with having a hobby. Hobbies make us happier – the more we do them, the more those happy hormones we get – and that is a great thing for reducing the amount of stress you have.

Often, at certain points in our lives, hobbies tend to take a back seat – which can mean we forget just how much fun they are. So, if you’ve been putting your hobby on the back burner, or you haven’t got a hobby right now, here are some of the best for getting some relaxation in.

Painting

Many people start with something like painting with the idea that they need to be great at it immediately. But the real thing about painting as a hobby is you should be like Bob Roos and embrace every little mistake as something good—a happy little accident, as he would say. Painting doesn’t have to be an expensive hobby either – it is much more about having run, letting your brain destress, and letting your hands do what they like. When you feel like it, you can join local classes and make it more of a social thing, too. For those looking to dive into painting with a bit more guidance, personalized paint by number kits can be a great way to start. They offer a structured yet creative approach that helps you build confidence and enjoy the process without the pressure of starting from scratch.

Knitting

Knitting and crochet have both seen a huge revival – although there are people who have been knitting for as long as they can remember, too. Knitting is a highly productive and enjoyable hobby, and you can make a lot of items like scarves, blankets, and clothing. The key thing that makes knitting a relaxing hobby is the repetitive motion. When we engage our hands in a repetitive motion, our brains naturally take a break and relax.

Even when you are working on intricate patterns, your brain is getting some much-needed downtime.

Sudoku

Puzzles and word games have long been seen as some of the most relaxing hobbies. Millions of people will pick up a newspaper at the weekend and do the crossword or spend their evening on sudoku. Although there is some problem-solving and working out to be done, it allows the rest of your week to be processed in the background and gives your brain something interesting to work on for a few hours.

Although some levels of sudoku can look like a challenge, the beginner levels are ideal for people of all ages, and over time, you’ll find yourself working through puzzle after puzzle whiling away the hours.

Origami

The fine art of paper folding can turn into a hobby that sees you building whole cities from paper. Many people start with boats and swans, but eventually, there are millions of things that you can make. Perhaps the best part about learning origami is that all you need is a few pieces of paper and some time, and you can check out some of the tutorials on YouTube too.

When it comes to learning origami, it is better to learn on cheaper paper first before moving on to thicker paper. And make sure that you have a recycling bin for the paper that doesn’t make the cut.

Calligraphy

Calligraphy used to be much more popular than it is now, although there are several great calligraphists on TikTok now sharing different ink mixes and techniques. Creating gorgeous lettering is something that takes time and effort to complete, and you’re likely to get quite a few wrongs before it goes right.

There are whole kits that come with 2-3 starter nibs, ink and a pen so that you can try it out and see if it is something that you enjoy. You can also find a wide range of printables and books that can help you work on creating the right shapes for your letters. Calligraphy also has a range of varying pressures so that you can create darker lines and thicker ones, too. A great hobby, and one that can come in very handy with it, is time to send cards and gifts!

Flower arranging

What’s not to love about a beautifully arranged flower-filled vase? Flower arranging can become more of an expensive hobby based on the style and type of flowers you are buying. But, it can be a smart and budget-friendly idea to buy a range of dried and fake flowers so you can practice a lot before you spend cash on the real deal.

For those who want a hobby that is more online based, here are some brilliant options: These are the best hobbies you can try online.
