13 New Songs Out Today to Listen To: Twisted Teens, Star Moles, and More

There’s so much music coming out all the time that it’s hard to keep track. On those days when the influx of new tracks is particularly overwhelming, we sift through the noise to bring you a curated list of the most interesting new releases (the best of which will be added to our Best New Songs playlist). Below, check out our track roundup for Wednesday, October 7, 2026.

Twisted Teens – ‘Stalks’

Twisted Teens’ restless momentum continues with ‘Stalks’, the second single from their third LP of 2026, The Holy Cross. Like most of the band’s songs, it is equal parts scrappy and infectious, and it comes paired with a video by (checks notes) Mama Hot Dog.

Star Moles – ‘Born Again’

It’s about time more people get into Star Moles’ music. Following her 2025 breakout Highway to Hell, Emily Moales has signed to Dead Oceans and shared a new single under the moniker, the groovy, sparkling ‘Born Again’. “The thing about writing something that’s true is that it basically can’t be narrative,” she reflected. “If you’re angry or sad or in love, the feeling itself is an exaggeration. Trying to tell the truth in a song by saying ‘here’s what happened’ isn’t satisfying to me. ‘Born Again’ is a painting of real frustration, and the best way I can express that feeling is with a strong voice and words that mythologize. I wouldn’t say I’m religious, but I think sometimes my emotions are.”

Paul McCartney – ‘City Fox’, ‘One Night Stand’, and ‘Chelsea Boots’

Paul McCartney has expanded his latest album The Boys of Dungeon Lane with four new tracks. In addition to a “flip mix” of the Ringo Starr duet ‘Home to Us’, there’s a nostalgic ballad called ‘City Fox’, the perky ‘One Night Stand’, and the playful ‘Chelsea Boots’.

untitled (halo) – ‘sex’

untitled (halo) have followed up ‘aimee lou wood freestyle’ and ‘easy rider’ with another riveting tune from their self-titled album, one that might also be their most danceable. “This is a song that makes you feel like you just left the 4am rave and are finally walking to see the natural light,” Ariana Mamnoon said of ‘sex’. “Perhaps the most dance track by the band, one that feels relatable and while a bit disjointed and gleeful, there are moments of restraint. The song is about a desire for the party.”

They Are Gutting a Body of Water – ‘illusion hue’ [feat. Toner] and ‘am i wrong [feat. A Country Western, Dead Sullivan]

They Are Gutting a Body of Water (TAGABOW) have dropped another pair of cuts from their forthcoming mixtape, KOOL FAITH / LOOSIES II, ‘illusion hue’ (featuring Toner) and ‘am i wrong’, a grittily radiant collaboration with A Country Western and Dead Sullivan.

Font – ‘Punish Task’

Font – the quartet of Thom Waddill, Anthony Laurence, Jack Owens, and Roman Parnell -have previewed their new album, American Bully XL, with the glitchy, hard-hitting ‘Punish Task’. “The song is about the relationship between dark and light, rage and euphoria,” Waddill explained. “It’s about betrayal and grief and feeling condemned to forever pick at a bleeding scab. The angry dark underside of nostalgia’s fake coin.”

Sampa the Great – ‘Location’

Sampa the Great has dropped ‘Location’, the latest offering from her upcoming album, Nu Zamrock. “While African music influences the world, the infrastructure rarely supports its creators,” she said of the boisterous track. “This song confronts the global imbalance – and the cost of creating outside the West.”

Jess Kerber – ‘Louisiana Song’

Jess Kerber has unveiled ‘Louisiana Song’, a gorgeously affecting song from her upcoming album, The World Is Dark. “This song is about my home state and growing up in a place that feels pretty far away from everything else,” Kerber explained. “Louisiana carries so much unique beauty, but also has a tinge of tragedy that’s forever built in. The state loses a lot of coast line each day, so in 50 years, 100 years, it will look different than it does today; it changes every hour. And the feeling of knowing that you won’t be able to return to the thing that you came from is certainly a strange one.”

Sylvie – ‘Not Looking Back Anymore’

Ben Schwab is ‘Not Looking Back Anymore’ on his new single, but the next Sylvia record, New Season, is sounding tenderly nostalgic. The band’s debut with Ghostly International arrives November 6.

studio20 – ‘Penny Drop’

Kent quartet studio20 have signed to Communion and shared their first single, ‘Penny Drop’, a kaleidoscopic blast of catharsis. “The song was conceived in winter 2025,” the band’s Isaac (not Wood, though comparisons are inevitable) recalled. “I would try and write a minute’s worth of new music every day – I was not in the best headspace. It was very cold. That demo hung around for ages. There was something uneasy about it.”

“The chorus lyrics came about from a gut feeling, more focused on the sounds than the words,” Isaac continued. “At that point I felt like the vocal performance embodied the sentiment more than the lyrics themselves. The band unravelled my stream of consciousness and we discovered the meaning – the Penny Drop feeling when you realise something isn’t what it used to be. Even the ending we left painfully unresolved to tease the listener.”
