Elvis Costello has released a new song called ‘Newspaper Pane’. It’s the latest preview from his upcoming album, Hey Clockface. Listen to it below.
While the previous singles from the album were recorded in Helsinki and Paris before the pandemic, the music for ‘Newspaper Pane’ was written and produced in New York by composer/arranger Michael Leonhart alongside guitarist Bill Frisell. Costello’s lyrical verses were then added “from his westward hideout via the miracle of telecommunications,” as a press release puts it, while trumpet player Michael Leonhart contributed a horn arrangement to the track.
Hey Clockface is out October 30 via Rounder Records. It includes the previously released singles ‘We Are All Cowards Now’, ‘No Flag’ and ‘Hetty O’Hara Confidential’.
