Sound Selection 114: The Habits, Neon Islands, TSHA

    TSHA ‘Change’ feat. Gabrielle Aplin

Moving forward with an already impressive discography is TSHA, a rising star in the world of electronic music, having just released her latest single ‘Change’ featuring British singer-songwriter Gabrielle Aplin. In this nostalgia-filled production, TSHA explores rave-like synths mixed with a dancefloor-ready beat that will get you on your feet in seconds. Chatting about the release and the collaboration with Aplin, TSHA said: “She has a beautiful voice and is such a great writer…we had such a good time working together.”

The single comes from TSHA’s forthcoming EP Flowers, which is due to be released on the 13th of November.

    Neon Islands ‘Moon’

Neon Islands, a Guildford-based alternative band, also published their latest single ‘Moon,’ today. The song comes before their upcoming debut EP and focuses on the theme of long-distance relationships, the struggles of the distance and the everyday challenges to make it work. Lyrically the piece is unbowed and doesn’t shy away from exploring the interesting theme, whilst still maintaining an optimistic-sounding melodious production.

Speaking about the song, the band stated: “‘Moon’ explores the deep challenges that come from the day-to-day routine of a long-distance relationship. The main theme of the song is the confusion generated by the sadness of being apart. Starting a long-distance relationship is like going through a breakup, except for the fact that the lovers are actually trying to salvage the relationship, not to end it. Other than that, all the feelings are exactly the same. The temptations and distractions of their trivial routines make the lovers become strangers.”

    The Habits ‘Shoulders’

Lastly, on this Sound Selection, we have The Habits with their last week’s release ‘Shoulders.’ With catchy, digestible melodies and radio-ready vocals The Habits deliver quite the bang with ‘Shoulders.’ The song focuses on themes of love, loss and the things in between whilst still maintaining their mighty signature energy throughout, an element of their sound we have come to love.

‘Shoulders’ is part of their upcoming EP What’s The Worst That Could Happen.
