Bill Callahan and Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy Share Cover of Lou Reed’s ‘Rooftop Garden’

Bill Callahan and Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy are continuing their series of collaborative covers, this time tackling ‘Rooftop Garden’, the closing track from Lou Reed’s 1983 album Legendary Hearts. Their rendition features Cretan lute player George Xylouris of Xylouris White. Check it out below, alongside an accompanying music video directed by Kris Rey.

Over the past few of months, Callahan and Will Oldham have offered their take on Steely Dan’s ‘Deacon Blues’, Yusuf / Cat Stevens’ ‘Blackness of the Night’, Hank Williams, Jr.’s ‘O.D.’d in Denver’, Dave Rich’s ‘I’ve Made Up My Mind’, Billie Eilish’s ‘wish you were gay’,  Smog’s ‘Our Anniversary’, and Robert Wyatt’s ‘Sea Song’. More recently, they enlisted Meg Baird for a rendition of Little Feat’s ‘I’ve Been the One’.
