Bora Aksu Autumn/Winter 2021

Amid lockdown, Bora Aksu presented his 2021 autumn-winter collection at Tate Britain during London Fashion Week. For the collection, Turkish born designer took inspiration from mathematician, physicist, and philosopher Sophie Germain.

Aksu’s collection is lively and utilises bright red, yellow, blue, pink, black and white colours. The silhouettes are a combination of structured outerwear and, in contrast, has very fluid flowing dresses. This work reflects Germain’s past in which she had conceal her true self undercover. The collection is playful in using contrasting silhouettes together. Aksu uses the contrast of soft and hard outfits by mixing different materialled garments like wool and tulle but still embodying the feminine touch with fine detailing.
