Spencer Zahn has released a new song, ‘Lawns’, his take on a tune by California pianist Carla Bley. It’s lifted from his forthcoming album Statues I, which has already been previewed with ‘Two Cranes’. Take a listen below.
Statues I is due out August 11 on Cascine, and will be followed by Statues II this fall. “The first set of music was songs that felt fully formed as solo piano pieces,” Zahn explained in a statement. “I could live in these compositions as they were. The songs encapsulated a precious six month period of my life upstate. Subdued, minimal, solitary moments.”
