From the 1st of February, more than 20 glorious clockwork treasures collected by Chinese emperors from the Palace Museum in Beijing will be displayed exclusively in the UK for the first time at the Science museum. Zimingzhong 凝时聚珍: Clockwork Treasures from China’s Forbidden City will take visitors on a unique journey through the 1700s to explore the technical expertise, creativity and international trade behind these centuries-old zimingzhong.
In a triumph of artistry and spectacle, the exhibition will reveal these prosperous constructions’ skills, design, and inner mechanisms.
On the exhibition’s opening night, the Science Museum will host a special edition of free adults-only after-hours events to celebrate the Lunar New Year.
