Game critic beloved Starfield is the first new universe in over 25 years from Bethesda Game Studios, Skyrim and Fallout 4 makers. The game was released in 2023 as an Xbox Series X/S and PC exclusive by publisher ZeniMax Media, who own companies like Bethesda, Alpha Dog Games, and Arkane Studios.
The title is an action role-playing game in which you, the player, can switch the first-person and third-person perspectives (depending on your gaming preference). In the game, you can land on thousands of planets, moons and space stations, in addition to fictional and non-fictional planetary systems within the Milky Way galaxy. Thousands of planets and an unspecified number of moons and space stations are available. Most of the landscapes in the game are procedurally generated, depending on the star and atmosphere of the planet.
Will Starfield launch on PS5?
As of March 2024, it’s still being determined if Starfield will launch on PS5. While there are rumours that the game might become accessible to PlayStation 5 users in late 2024, they are simply rumours.
In 2023, a petition on Change.org was launched to make the game a PS5 exclusive, accumulating 4,110 signatures as of the 28th of February, 2024.
XboxEra claims they have internal sources stating that the senior Microsoft leadership are considering publishing the game on other platforms in a way to recoup the money “left on the table.”
