Give Your Wardrobe The Refresh It Needs

There isn’t a particular time that is ideal for making changes or updating your wardrobe. Some people choose ot update theirs once a year, for others, they update with each season and continuously add more until they are happy. However, if you are someone who follows fashion trends and wants their wardrobe to be a reflection of this then you may want to make updates and refresh your look more often.

Whether it has been a long time coming or you are someone who follows all the latest trends there are some general rules that you should follow. One major rule you should follow is never to change your wardrobe just because you are bored or before you have sorted through your old items.

Some of the main reasons you may be refreshing your wardrobe include:

Staring A New Role

If you have recently started a new job that requires a completely different look or feel to what you already have in your wardrobe, you are going to need to add a few new outfits to your wardrobe as soon as possible. It could be that you are moving from an office where you have been able to wear casual clothes to one that requires you to wear smart tailored pieces or it could be that you are making the move to working from home and now need some more comfortable attire to be able to feel comfortable in your home environment.

It’s Old And Tired

If you haven’t updated your wardrobe in a while then it goes without saying that some of the items might be looking a little tired. Some may have bobbles, stains, or holes or don’t fit the way they used to before. If this is the case, you must refresh your wardrobe when you can. If you can’t do this straight away add things in bit by bit. It could be a few staples [ars of jeans and T-shirts one month and then a statement piece like a Guizio Corset the next.

You Feel Less Confident

Sometimes as time goes on, your clothes don’t make you feel the same way that they used to. Perhaps they don’t fit you as well, you have changed your taste, or you have just fallen out of love with them. If any of these apply and you now feel less confident wearing them, they need to go and you need to start a major refresh. You deserve to feel beautiful and confident in your body and the clothes you wear should aid this, not hinder it. If you’re nervous about going shopping or aren’t sure what will make you feel confident it might help to take a friend shopping with you.

Your Wardrobe Is Living In The Past

Most people have been there. Neglecting their wardrobe and then realising that it has been years since anything was added to it. It’s extremely common for people who are trying to save for something big in their lives or new mothers. They are left trying to refine their sense of fashion and need a major wardrobe makeover.

You Have Nothing For The Change Of Season

If you have only just started to make changes to your wardrobe, you will find that for a couple of years, you need to add pieces with each change of season especially when it comes to adding in important basics. This might include a quality swimwear piece, trainers for working out, or a few decent winter coats. Items like coats, bags, and jeans should last you a few good years.

So what do you need to do if you want to make updates to your wardrobe? You need to keep this as simple as possible. If you start to overthink it, it can become an issue and stress that you just don’t need. Let’s have a look at some of the things you can do to make these changes a little less stressful and enjoyable.

Collect Everything Together

One of the most important stages before you do any shopping or arranging is to make a detailed inventory of what you already have in your wardrobe. You will be able to note down what you have, what you need, and what you can get rid of. Get every single item out and arrange them by type. You then need to go through each pile and see how you feel about them. Are they old and tattered, do they make you feel good? Do they still fit? Do you have too much of one colour? Anything that doesn’t have the clear answer of ‘yes’ needs to go. Try to be ruthless and don’t keep any maybes. You can then sort them into two piles. One to keep and one to go.

Now you can identify any gaps and where you need to refresh your wardrobe. This doesn’t mean that you need to buy all new. It just means that you can start to add a few more refreshing items. For example, you might need a different fit of jeans because all you own at the moment are tonnes of skinny jeans.

Update Any Old Looks

Jeans, jumpers, camisoles, plain t’s, and coats and all wardrobe staples need to be refreshed at least every couple of years. Even if you are adding a similar jumper because you love your current go-to piece, if you refresh them before they look tatty you are guaranteed to have a wardrobe that stands the test of time and keeps you looking your best.

The game aims to make sure you have a range of staple items with some key statement pieces that stand out rather than having to go and buy new clothes all the time. So updating these first works well to h your wardrobe.
