Father John Misty Announces New Album ‘Mahashmashana’, Shares New Single Featuring Low’s Alan Sparhawk

Father John Misty has announced the details of his next album: Mahashmashana is set for release on November 22 via Bella Union (the UK and Europe) and Sub Pop (everywhere else). Today’s announcement comes with the release of the 7-minute single ‘Screamland’, which features Alan Sparhawk of Low on guitar and was mixed by BJ Burton. Check out its accompanying video, directed by Estefania Kröl, and find the album cover and tracklist below.

“The video is a visual journey through the depths of ‘Screamland,’ capturing the essence of both the music and the artists,” Kröl commented in a press release. “Father John Misty blends seamlessly into the scene, becoming a part of the city, a living echo of ‘Screamland.’”

Father John Misty, aka Josh Tillman, produced Mahashmashana with Drew Erickson. Jonathan Wilson executive produced the LP, which follows 2022’s Chloë and the Next 20th Century. It includes the single ‘I Guess Time Just Makes Fools of Us All’, which also appeared on a greatest-hits compilation the artist released last month.
