Asheville-based experimental guitarist Tashi Dorji has announced a new album, we will be wherever the fires are lit, which is set to arrive on November 22 via Drag City. It’s billed as a “sort of a sequel” to his 2020 album, Stateless, and the first single, ‘begin from here’, arrives with a music video by Roberto Lange (aka Helado Negro). Check it out below.
“Making music in these dark times feels meaningless but it is what we do, small anthems to muddle through,” Dorji said in a statement. “Finding some sort of solace in ringing clatters and broken harmonics through an old guitar, strumming in opposition to the towers.”
Introducing the new single, he wrote:
begin from here
Begin from here…our world lives when their world ceases to exist
Begin from here…with hopes, between silent skies, while world breathes again and the fever subsides
Begin from here…and to those who strike blows
Begin from here…while we keep going
Begin from here…while we mourn, we also fight
We will be wherever the fires are lit!
