SZA has announced she is releasing the deluxe version of SOS, the project she has long teased as Lana, on Friday. She also enlisted Ben Stiller for a new teaser, in which the actor lip syncs to one of the new songs, ‘Drive’. Check it out below.
Last week, a trailer suggested Lana and SOS Deluxe are the same album. In November 2023, she told Variety that Lana would be SOS with “outtakes and some new songs,” adding that it “was gonna be really soft, because I had made all my screaming points, and I just wanted to glide and not think [too much] and get out of my own head – I was so happy to say some shit that didn’t mean a fucking thing.”
SZA is a huge fan of Severance, the psychological mystery series created by Stiller for Apple TV+. She first expressed her love for the show in 2022, then wondered when a second season would be coming out. (SZA fans must have been wondering the same about Lana.) Earlier this year, she tweeted, “Was tryna be polite but I really need a new season of Severance right the fuck now.” Stiller replied with, “Ok ok got it,” and tagged SZA when the Severance season two trailer arrived earlier this month.
