SPELLLING Announces New Album ‘Portrait of My Heart’, Shares New Song

Chrystia Cabral has announced her fourth LP as SPELLLING. Portrait of My Heart, the follow-up to 2021’s The Turning Wheel, is slated to land on March 28 via Sacred Bones. It features vocal contributions from Toro y Moi’s Chaz Bear, as well as instrumentals from Turnstile guitarist Pat McCrory and Zulu’s Braxton Marcellous. Check out the title track below, and scroll down for the album cover and tracklist.

“When the lyrics for the title track came together, it really started to morph everything in this more energetic direction, instead of this more whimsical landscape that I’ve worked with before,” Cabral explained in a press release. “It started to become more driven, higher energy, more focused. And I have a big affection for it because of that. I love that it feels like it withstood transformation, which is something I always want to aspire to with things that I make. I want them to have this sense of timelessness. It could exist like this, or like that, or like this, but this is the one for right now.”

To record Portrait of My Heart, Cabral was joined by touring bandmates (performing as the Mystery School) Wyatt Overson (guitar), Patrick Shelley (drums), and Giulio Xavier Cetto (bass).
