After more than a decade filled with fan-made trailers and leaks, GTA 6 is officially just around the corner. The game’s parent company, Take-Two, has confirmed that the game is on course for an Autumn 2025 release, despite rumblings of a delay to 2026.
The decade-long wait for the sequel to the third best-selling video game of all time has left fans at the edge of their seat, particularly as the only official content of the game has been a trailer from December 2023, with few updates from the development team since.
As the anticipation builds, fans of the iconic series have turned into some of the internet’s most prolific sleuths, picking out minute details where they can to attempt to decipher the release date of a new gameplay trailer.
GTA 6 Trailer 2: What We Know So Far
Trailer 1 released over a year ago in December 2023, reaching over 100 million views on Youtube in just two days and breaking the record for the most viewed non-music video in 24 hours.
After the roaring success of the first trailer, fans have worked hard to produce a number of potential dates for a new trailer release, so far they have all been proven wrong, but that has not deterred them from continuing on their quest.
A prominent theory from GameRoll, a popular X account focussed on GTA updates, suggests the trailer could drop at the end of this month.
Borderlands 4 recently got its second trailer and it launches in 7 months.
If GTA 6 was to follow this same pattern, then we can expect Rockstar to drop Trailer 2 towards the end of March.
We have no reason to worry. Take-Two just utilises shorter marketing cycles these days. pic.twitter.com/jAigvfc3Qv

The theory reads: “Borderlands 4 recently got its second trailer and it launches in 7 months. If GTA 6 was to follow this same pattern, then we can expect Rockstar to drop Trailer 2 towards the end of March.
“We have no reason to worry. Take-Two just utilises shorter marketing cycles these days.”
The theory has caught on with many fans, with many suggesting that if it is not released in March it will at least come at some point in Spring, particularly after previous theories about a trailer drop coming around the new year or at a major TV event like the Superbowl or Oscars fell flat.
Responding to a Reddit post asking for “rational” theories on a trailer release date, many fans suggested that a trailer before Take-Two’s earnings call in May would make sense.
Other fans noted that the “game is marketing itself” despite the silence from the developers, meaning that a new trailer may not be released anytime soon, while others believe the lack of communication indicates the game is “not ready” and may still be delayed.
Release Information and Consoles
To date there has been no confirmation of a release date for the highly anticipated trailer 2, nor has the date been officially set for the games full release.
GTA 6 is set to be a current-gen console exclusive, releasing on Xbox Series S and PS5 at launch, with a PC release expected to come later, in 2026.
