Hatchie has announced her third album, Liquorice. Produced by Jay Som, the follow-up to 2022’s Giving the World Away is set to arrive on November 7 via Secretly Canadian. The lead single ‘Lose It Again’, which piles hooks upon hooks, was co-written with Orchin’s Jeremy McLennan. Check out its Joe Agius-directed video below.
Liquorice was recorded with Stella Mozgawa (Warpaint, Courtney Barnett) on drums. It was mixed by Alex Farrar and mastered by Greg Obis. “This album feels like the culmination of everything I’ve wanted to do with this project since I first started it,” Harriette Pilbeam explained in a statement. “I focused on the finer details of the trajectory of love found and lost, inspired by my favorite tragic romance films. I’ve never felt more aligned with an album and can’t wait to share the experience with everyone.”
“Ultimately, the inspiration for the album came from living a very simple life and having time to reconnect with myself and be alone with my thoughts,” she added.
