Madonna has announced her much-anticipated new album, Confessions ll. The Confessions on a Dance Floor sequel is set for release on July 3 via Warner Records. Here’s everything we know so far.
How long has Madonna been teasing the new album?
Madonna first hinted at a follow-up to 2005’s Confessions in December 2024, when she posted a video of herself in the studio with that album’s producer, Stuart Price. Last year, she confirmed her return to her original label, Warner Records, which had released all of her records up until 2008’s Hard Candy.
On April 14, the pop star cleared her Instagram account and changed her bio to “Time goes by so slowly…”, a lyric from the album’s lead single, ‘Hung Up’. To sum up the new album, she also quoted the first few lines of her song ‘One Step Away’: “People think that dance music is superficial, but they’ve got it all wrong. The dance floor is not just a place, it’s a threshold: A ritualistic space where movement replaces language.”
Upon officially announcing the album, Madonna shared a snippet of a new song, ‘I Feel So Free’.
What has Madonna said about the new album?
In a press release announcing Confessions on a Dance Floor: Part II, Madonna shared the manifesto that guided her and Price when they first started working on the album:
We must dance, celebrate, and pray with our bodies. These are things that we’ve been doing for thousands of years — they really are spiritual practices. After all, the dance floor is a ritualistic space. It’s a place where you connect
—with your wounds, with your fragility. To rave is an art. It’s about pushing your limits and
connecting to a community of like-minded people.
Sound, light, and vibration
Reshape our perceptions
Pulling us into a trance-like state.
The repetition of the bass, we don’t just hear it but we feel it.
Altering our consciousness and dissolving ego and time.
What does the album cover of Madonna’s new album look like?
What is the album’s tracklist?

How long has it been since Madonna’s last album?
