Only three episodes in, and Apple TV horror comedy Widow’s Bay is already generating online buzz. Turns out, its combination of coziness and scares makes for delightful viewing. The show’s near-perfect Rotten Tomatoes score is a testament to that.
Created by Katie Dippold and starring Matthew Rhys, Widow’s Bay welcomes viewers to a town where uncanny things keep happening, to the dismay of the skeptical mayor. Is this the kind of premise that could keep the show going for years? Here’s what we know so far.
Widow’s Bay Season 2 Release Date
At the time of writing, Apple TV hasn’t renewed the horror comedy for additional episodes. That said, the series premiered only recently, so there’s still time for an announcement down the line. The streaming service might simply be waiting to assess viewership before making a decision.
If everything lines up, Widow’s Bay season 2 could arrive in 2027.

What Is Widow’s Bay About?
The fictional town of Widow’s Bay has no Wi-Fi, unreliable cell service, and residents who believe terrifying local legends are real.
Matthew Rhys plays Tom Loftis, the mayor, who doesn’t really believe in superstition. Instead, he wants to transform the town into a profitable tourist destination. Too bad it’s tough to modernise a community that seems cursed.
Against all odds, tourism finally picks up, but it happens right as the town’s supposedly ridiculous folklore begins to come true. Think supernatural fog, killer clowns, disappearances, and undead sightings.
The show blends supernatural horror with satire and small-town dysfunction. This makes it a perfect watch for viewers who like their comedy with a side of creepiness.
While Widow’s Bay season 2 might not be a sure thing yet, the good reviews and online chatter are positive signs. If the series continues to build its audience, the story could easily expand over multiple installments.
For now, you can catch episodes weekly on Apple TV. The finale will drop mid-June.
