Told Slant Announces New Album ‘What’s Up’, Shares New Single

Felix Walworth has announced the first Told Slant album in six years, What’s Up. Out September 4 via Mtn. Laurel Recording Co., it’s billed as the singer-songwriter’s “New York record” and is naturally led by the raucous, propulsive ‘Manhattan’. Check it out below.

The new single wrestles with “New York becoming a shrine to capitalism and the underground being unable to mount any effective resistance,” according to Walworth, but also “this whole other set of knowledge of what living in the city as an artist could be, both from living it, and from my parents… The defeat of the song is all of those people’s dreams being crushed.”

Walworth recorded the drums, bass, and guitar on What’s Up with Hannah Pruzinsky and Jonnie Baker, their bandmates in the groups Sister. and Florist, respectively. Ceci Sturman, Hellen Ballentine, Emily Sprague, Mari Rubio, and Elijah Wolf also contributed to the record, which follows 2020’s Point the Flashlight and Walk.
