Hauser & Wirth will inaugurate its new Palo Alto gallery with Calder | O’Keeffe, an exhibition bringing together works by Alexander Calder and Georgia O’Keeffe. Crafted in close collaboration with the Calder Foundation and informed by research undertaken with the guidance of the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum, the exhibition pairs significant works by the two artists alongside archival materials that document their decades-long friendship. Organised by Hauser & Wirth Curatorial Senior Director Alexis Lowry, the presentation seeks to offer new perspectives on the artists’ creative relationship.
The exhibition also reflects the gallery’s commitment to presenting canonical artists in new contexts. Echoing the spirit of Hauser & Wirth’s inaugural public exhibition in Zurich in 1992, which paired Alexander Calder and Joan Miró, Calder | O’Keeffe zooms in on the dialogue between two defining figures of 20th-century modernism. The presentation follows the gallery’s 2018 Los Angeles exhibition Calder: Nonspace and coincides with Calder. François Premier, opening at Hauser & Wirth Paris on 19 October 2026, underscoring the gallery’s interntaional attention dedicated towards Calder’s legacy.
Calder | O’Keeffe will be on view 3 October 2026 to 24 January 2027 at Hauser & Wirth Palo Alto.
